How much headroom is required to install a roll-up door?

For storage roll-ups, 13′ to 15′ of headroom is required. 18′ is recommended. Call us if you need more flexibility.

When should I cut the band when installing?

Some of our doors have a metal band. Once the door is mounted (with the U-bolt pulled away from the wall), you roll the door twice toward the opening to add tension, pull down, secure the door with a vice grip, then move the U-bolt toward the wall and finish securing the door and guides / track.

How do I frame the opening?

Make it like an “H” or a goal post and don’t cut off at the header. There is an example on our Storage Doors page.
