Why Our High-Speed Doors Last

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESITONS

What size should the opening and roll-up door be?

The door is made to fit the opening. A 6×7 door is actually 6’4″ wide for the door to fit into the guides / track.

What Is a High-Speed Door, and How Is It Different?

A high-speed door opens and closes much faster than a standard roll-up or sectional door—typically in 2 to 4 seconds. They’re ideal for areas with heavy traffic, where maintaining internal climate, cleanliness, and security is a priority.

What Types of High-Speed Doors Are Available?

We offer a range of options, including PVC fabric roll-up doors, insulated sectional high-speed doors, aluminum or rigid panel doors, and hybrid options. The right type depends on your space, application, and frequency of use.

Are High-Speed Doors Energy Efficient?

Yes. Fast cycle speeds reduce air exchange, while tight seals help maintain indoor temperatures. Businesses in cold storage, food handling, and climate-sensitive zones often see 20–30% savings on HVAC costs after installing high-speed doors.

How Safe Are These Doors to Operate?

Very safe. All of our high-speed doors come equipped with safety sensors, motion detectors, soft bottom edges, and auto-reverse technology. These systems detect people, forklifts, or objects in the door’s path and stop operation immediately.

How much headroom is required to install a roll-up door?

For storage roll-ups, 13′ to 15′ of headroom is required. 18′ is recommended. Call us if you need more flexibility.

When should I cut the band when installing?

Some of our doors include a metal band. Once the door is mounted—with the U-bolt positioned away from the wall—roll the door toward the opening twice to add tension. Then, pull the door down, secure it with a vice grip, reposition the U-bolt toward the wall, and complete the installation by fastening the door and guide tracks.

How do I frame the opening?

Make it like an “H” or a goal post and don’t cut off at the header. There is an example on our Storage Doors page.

Can High-Speed Doors Be Used Outdoors?

Absolutely. Many models are designed for exterior use with weatherproof materials, UV-resistant finishes, and wind load ratings. We often install them at loading docks, drive-thrus, and service bays across Utah.

Can They Integrate With Security Or Access Systems?

Yes. Our high-speed doors are fully compatible with keypads, badge scanners, motion sensors, remote openers, and even building automation systems. This makes them ideal for secure warehouses, parking garages, and restricted-access zones.

What Happens if the Door Gets Hit or Damaged?

Most of our high-speed doors feature breakaway designs with auto-reset capability. If a forklift or pallet hits the door, it can pop out of its guide tracks without breaking, and then reinsert itself on the next cycle. That keeps downtime and repair costs down.

How Long Does Installation Take?

With proper maintenance, our high-speed doors can last 10+ years in even high-use environments. Models are built for hundreds of thousands of cycles, and routine maintenance (which we also offer) keeps them running like new.
