FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESITONS

Which Insulation Options Are Available?

You have two options for insulation: polyurethane and polystyrene. Which you choose depends on how much insulation you’d like to have in your garage. Polyurethane costs more but insulates more. Transversely, polystyrene is not as good an insulator, but is more economical. The r-value range for our insulated doors is from 6.5 and 19.  In layman’s terms, the amount of heat flow reduction is from about 60% all the way up to 95%. Whatever your budget and energy-saving needs, we have options that will help.

What Window Options Are Available?

If you’re looking to put windows in the panels of the best residential garage doors, we’ve got you covered. You can choose from clear, frosted, tinted, or insulated glass configured in a few different layouts. Not all garage doors have windows in them, but there are quite a few benefits to adding windows to our steel doors, including letting in natural light, allowing for a view of the outside world to lessen the chances of feeling stuck inside, and adding a little extra to the exterior of a house to boost its look and feel.

What R-values Are Available?

Thermal and heat transfer performance depend on the insulation type and how many of layers on the steel garage door. A single-layer steel door will naturally have a lower R-value than a dual-layer steel door insulated with polyurethane. Estimated R-values range anywhere from 6.5 and 19, but we can give you an exact value once we work together and choose which door and insulation you’d like.

Are These Doors Quiet Enough For Attached Garages?

Yes. A lot of modern homes are designed with attached garages that have rooms above the garage. As those living spaces can be occupied by baby or children’s rooms that rely on scheduled bedtimes and naptimes, parents would not like to have a loud garage door opener rattling them awake.

You’ll notice that insulated doors tend to absorb more noise, and the added dimension of the door helps reduce vibrations. Due to the precision installation of the rails, the rollers glide gently to prevent shifting and rattling. Between the paneling of the residential garage doors are quality hinges that move effortlessly when bending. To top it off, our team of experts ensures the spring system is balanced to ensure a quieter performance.

If you would like it even quieter, the garage door openers have the option of being belt-driven instead of chain-driven. Belts are made from reinforced rubber that is hard to hear.

Can You Meet Wind or Code Requirements?

Yes, we can. We offer configurations for wind, and the doors will meet the code requirements of Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. We’ll measure, certify, and install the door to your home or location so that local building codes are met.

How Fast Can You Deliver And Install?

We keep most of the common door sizes stocked here in Utah to allow us to get out to our clients quickly, usually within the same day. However, if you want a customized size or finish, the delivery time varies depending on how specialized a garage door it is. Regardless of the door availability, our team of experts will keep you in the loop and keep your install on track.

Do You Handle Framing and Retrofits?

We do. We are able to come out to your home or building and reframe the opening to meet the size specifications of the garage door you want installed. If you’re replacing an existing door, we’ll also haul the old door (and opener) away. Once the new door is in place, our team will clean up any debris so you can start using your door immediately.

Which Openers Do You Install?

Trolley or jackshaft operators matched to door size, clearance, duty cycle, and required controls or safety devices.

What Maintenance Do You Recommend?

It’s generally recommended to do maintenance every six to twelve months. Regular garage door maintenance includes a basic tune-up of a balance test, lubrication of the rollers and hinges, aligning the track, and adjusting the seals for a tighter fit.

What Finishes and Styles Can I Get?

There is a wide selection of garage door styles that we offer that you can choose from to either match or accent your home. We have the traditional raised panel look to carriage-style designs. We also offer a wide range of colors and prints to make the door look bright and vibrant, to other finishes that make the door appear to have wood-grain textures.

Whether you want a classic look or something contemporary, today’s finishes stay sharp, low-maintenance, and built to last through years of weather and daily use.
